Novation Peak

Himalaya is a cinematic sound bank the Novation Peak. Featuring 128 Soundsauca signature ambiences, analog strings, cosmic pads and sound effects.

Ascention

Ascending to new heights with the Novation Peak, Himalaya is the result of an intensive sound programming project undertaken by Soundsauca.

Having spent what feels like an eternity in the clouds discovering new sonic landscapes, I set about making sense of the huge number of sounds I’d made… From this you’ll find beautiful analog renditions, choral pads, retro strings, ambient washes, plucks and classic leads.

Part 2

Himalaya’s a bit of a whopper, here’s part 2 if you haven’t seen it as well. Part 1 is at the top of this page.

Favorites

It’s hard to pick favourites here as there’s a lot of diversity but here’s a few I thought stood out:

  • “Moondrops” – a simple impulse pitch that shimmers and rotates into the distance,
  • “Stringy Stuff” – a racy arp with a festival atmosphere,
  • “Twisted Take” – we’re not gonna take it;)
  • “Sawdust Sun” – very analog without the animate button FX
  • “Choir Tune” – resonant filter on the edge of self oscillation,
  • “In the Reeds” – 2 sounds in one! A subtle reedy pad morphs into an EP via the mod wheel,
  • “Orca Choir” – New age aquatic sound effect,
  • “Deep Crack” – colourful resonance shimmers

I think they’d be great for ambient based genres and musicians looking for inspirational soundscapes.

Ever conscious that the Peak has a galactic reverb onboard, I lost count of the times I reduced reverb on patches, only to come back and find there’s still too much! As an antidote, there’s some sounds that are completely dry, often this can be toggled with the 2 “animate” buttons.

Demo

The Youtube demo(s) feature 126 out of the 128 patches. I know, I can’t count! However, I’ve added these 2 to the mp3 demos below. There are also another 28 patches included free. Some of these were variations or outtakes whilst working.

All Himalaya sounds were recorded with the -6dB output setting on the Peak into an RME UFX interface @24bit, 48khz using Logic Pro X. The master volume was set at around 12 O’clock. The Peak doesn’t ever suffer from a lack of level! No external effects, compression, EQ or any other “secret sauce” was used in its creation. I have used volume fades and modulation to make the demo a bit of a journey. I hope that’s ok.
